Cosy cottage with sea view - Ballydehob | Ireland

Ballydehob - home of arts and music

The Roaringwater Bay is the southernmost bay in Ireland. At the entrance to the bay lays picturesque Ballydehob - home to musicians, writers and sculptors. Since 1998, Jeremy Irons has lived temporarily in Kilcoe Castle, overlooking the bay. The internationally renowned Jazz Festival is held in Ballydehob every year. Also, a weekend of traditional music and dancing is a must in the spring. Seasonal dishes are served at the Chestnut restaurant, which was awarded a Michelin star.

Ballydehob's landmark is the former railway bridge with its 12 stone arches. The railway and the station were closed in 1947. Today there is a guided tour around the mystique bridge.

Glengall Cottage - panoramic view of the Roaringwater Bay

The cosy cottage of Glengall residence is located around 5 km from the town’s center in a mild environment, nestled in a fairytale landscape with sea view.

The cottage was completely refurbished in 2020.

From the conservatory, you will have an amazing view on Fastnet Rock, Ireland's southernmost lighthouse - the last mark Irish emigrants saw of their homeland in the 19th century, earning it the nickname "Ireland's Tear Drop." Roaringwater Bay is home to countless islands, which are worth a visit. Since 1991, the bay has been used for sustainable shellfish farming as well.

Glengall means "valley of standing stones" in Gaelic. Lyall Watson, an internationally known scientist and author, resided in Glengall for several years. Standing stones, historic farm implements, antique furniture and souvenirs from his travels still remind us of this fascinating man who was primarily concerned with supernatural phenomena in nature.

The cottage is located in front of the main house and is completely independent. It has its own parking space and usable garden areas. In five minutes you can walk down to the sea. The path leads past Glenkeen Gardens to a small jetty that can be used by the cottages in the area. The though ones among us can take a dip in the cool waters of the Atlantic Ocean.

Wild Atlantic Way

Ballydehob is located on the Wild Atlantic Way, the longest coastal tourist route in the world. The route runs over 2,500 km from Kinsale along the entire west coast of Ireland to Northern Ireland. There are many options for day trips. Our recommendations can be found at the cottage.
